Who you’ll be working for:
My customer is a hugely successful and very well established, international travel business. With operations in over 120 countries and a significant head count within their business. They provide a tech driven, dynamic, innovative, gratifying, service to their travel business partners and customers.
They are seeking a skilled and motivated Market Manager to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact by managing contracts, ensuring the right mix of hotels with competitive prices and availability, and contributing to the overall success of their company.
What you’ll do:
As a Market Manager, your primary responsibility will be to achieve the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by the company for the assigned regions. You will work closely with the Director of Purchasing to contract hotels, making sure to meet deadlines and align with the company's product requirements. Building and maintaining strong relationships with hoteliers, negotiating special offers, and monitoring competitor pricing will be crucial to your success. Your expertise in contracting and your attention to detail will drive their company's profitability and enhance their product offerings.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure hotels are re-contracted within specified deadlines, maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date inventory.
- Identify and contract "must-have" hotels in the assigned destinations, focusing on the right mix of properties.
- Regularly visit local hotels to establish and nurture strong relationships with hoteliers.
- Consult and communicate with the Director of Purchasing regarding product additions and deletions.
- Negotiate added value deals, overrides, and special offers with hotel partners.
- Coordinate and guide the Contracts Executive in managing inventory and pricing changes.
- Monitor competitor pricing and availability, aligning with demand and making strategic adjustments.
- Collaborate with the yield team to maximize profitability, providing insights on peak and off-peak dates for accurate pricing.
- Advise on preferred partner hotels in relevant destinations, negotiating exclusive deals.
- Address and resolve any standard or service-level issues with suppliers, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Regularly inspect hotels and update details such as photos and amenities as needed.
- Communicate destination information, including peak dates, trade shows, and visitor information, internally.
- Manage supplier relationships throughout the contract period, handling closeout requests and booking issues in coordination with relevant departments.
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to ensure reports are completed and up to date.
- Maintain professional and effective communication, both internally and externally, adhering to corporate guidelines.
What they’re looking for:
- Minimum of 2 years of contracting experience in the hotel industry, preferably with OTAs, Bedbank, or Tour Operators.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with hoteliers.
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional qualification.
- Strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen, proactive attitude, and a passion for teamwork.
- Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel applications.
- Understanding of the current contracting landscape, including dynamic and static models.
- Target-driven, motivated, and capable of driving results.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Excel.
- Self-starter with a "can-do" approach and a strong team player.
